We were very satisfied with Harrington's Appraisers. The person was professional and took the time to explain her results of our items. I would go to them again in the future for sure. :)
They provided a fast and acurate assessment of some vintage jewlery we had. They bought one item on the spot for gold value and recommended the other item be taken to a vintage collector - which we did. So the project was concluded.
Went to an event in Vancouver. The event write up indicated they appraise gemstones. Sad to report this is false advertising. The gentleman who helped us was fine, albeit a bit patronizing and gave off slight "used car salesman" vibes, and indicated they do not appraise gemstones and that the stones are essentially worthless. This is amusing as a jeweler I went to in Vancouver who buys gemstones told me one of my stones was potentially worth quite a lot (I also checked several gem retailers around). I would suggest these folks are, at the very least, undervaluing items significantly in order to get a good deal and flip for a profit for themselves. Won't be recommending this company to my friends or family. Edit: I have to respond to the comment below. I had grading, analysis, identification. They are not raw gemstones. I was literally told they do not appraise gemstones and to go see a gemologist. So I don't think the person I spoke to was a gemologist. I was told they were not appraising gemstones despite the event saying so!
I have been most pleased with m experience with Harrington’s. I felt the evaluator was knowledgeable and very fair. It was great to have the service offered in my hometown. I would definitely not hesitate to deal with Harrington’s Auctionneer & Appraisers again.
We had a very wonderful time at Harrington's Auctioneers. We found it an educational experience as much as an opportunity to sell some of our pieces of jewelry. Katrina was extremely insightful and expert in identifying different materials so the experience proved both entertaining and enlightening.
