I used Makeup by Stephanie for my wedding this past November 2022 for myself and my closest 7 friends. Although the hair and makeup was beautiful, my experience with Stephanie was awful and I am still extremely hurt and upset one month later. I hired a makeup and hair team and paid for my entire party out of my pocket to thank them for being there for me through a very difficult year of tragedy and loss, and to make myself feel special and taken care of on the most special day of my life. Sadly, that was not my experience and I am still hurt by the way Stephanie treated me and spoke to me in front of my family and friends. The services costed almost $4000.00 so I had an expectation of professionalism, kindness, and that the owner would be personable (especially since it is her business). I had an even greater expectation because the Assistant Account Manager I was corresponding with to book for my big day, Alisha, was very nice, informative and helpful. There was a major gap in the level of professionalism here between Alisha and Stephanie. I do not live in Toronto but my wedding was in Toronto. I researched many makeup and hair teams from my home in Alberta and decided on Stephanie because of the positive reviews, how helpful Alisha was, and the nice photos on instagram. I should have asked around to friends and acquaintances for recommendations instead. Hiring Stephanie is my biggest regret and such a waste of my hard earned money. Many friends told me to hire a makeup and hair team because they are so fun and sometimes bring drinks, light breakfasts like fruit, cookies and coffee and even provide your chosen lip color in a small pretty mesh bag at the end. I have experienced this when part of other bridal parties as well. None of this happened for me. The artists did not even say hello or introduce themselves when we arrived; They did not ask who the bride was. They just told us to sit down if we were ready. I sat down and about 5 minutes into having them work on me, they found out I was the bride and said I should not have sat down because Stephanie does the bride. I did not know who Stephanie was or what these ladies names were. It was extremely awkward for my friends and I and from there on out; the atmosphere was so negative and tense. A lot of awkward glances exchanged the entire time. The hair team and Stephanie made me very nervous because they immediately said my hair is greasy and this was a problem. I also did not scrub my eyebrows too vigorously because I do not have a lot of eyebrow hair left after giving birth, and Stephanie chastised me for this in front of everyone and said "it's basic face washing, don't you wash your face?". I left the room to cry and just told her I was going to wash my face. I guess she did not have any wipes or anything, and even still, if she felt I did not cooperate or do what I was supposed to do to prepare, I think she could have been kinder and more helpful instead of being so awful to me in front of all of my friends. Again, I hired a makeup and hair team to help me the morning of my big day. Lastly, when it came time to do my lips, Stephanie asked me for my lip color and I told her I assumed she would be doing my lip color because she is the makeup artist. She said if I wanted her to provide my lip color, I had to pay for a trial before my wedding. I guess the $4000.00 I paid her wasn't enough. I told her if she did not bring lipstick then to just leave me with no lip color and I'll put my own upstairs, because I just wanted to get away from her. She also should have known I could not do a trial even if I wanted to because again, I came from Alberta, and this was on my forms, and the account manager knew this as well. This was another awful, awkward encounter in front of everyone so I just went and grabbed a lipstick from my room. My hairstylist was very nice and said she will take care of my hair and make sure it is perfect, and it was. If she felt my hair was too greasy or not workable, she kept it to herself and treated me with kindness.
Stephanie is the best makeup artist I've ever used! I used her for my wedding and I was SO happy with my look. Makeup lasted a 12 hour day and didn't budge. I would recommend her to all brides and/or anyone who is looking for a makeup artist. She is so super talented, friendly and professional. Thank you Stephanie for glamming me on my wedding day!
I have seen Stephanie on two occasions. She is incredible. She is diligent, professional and extremely talented. I would recommend her for all makeup occasions. I've never received so many compliments on how great I looked and how fabulous my makeup was done. Can't wait to see her again.
As a recent bride, I would highly recommend Stephanie to all brides-to-be. Stephanie was incredibly accomodating, sweet and professional. She agreed to a couple of trials, and she did my shower make-up (and hair!) She has a true talent! I picked her mainly because I only wanted MAC products to be used, and she definitely delivers. All my girls' make-up lasted throughout the entire day, and her hair partner was amazing. The two of them did a great job, were very friendly and made conversation with my bridal party and did great work at a very reasonable price. In the future, if I had to get my make-up done for any party or event, I would definitely get it done by Stephanie again! Book her - she is AH-MAZING.
