Katia took me on as a student when I was 11, and back then, I knew almost nothing about art. Over the years, she has taught me perspective, anatomy, different painting techniques, and so much more. She's an awesome teacher! Since I play soccer almost every day, it is hard for me to schedule classes with her. However, Katia is very flexible with make-up classes. Four years later, I still attend her classes, sometimes twice a week! I do not intend on leaving anytime soon. Thanks, Katia.
My 11-year old son started learning drawing/painting in Ace Art Studio from Katia from late 2024. I have already seen big improvement. His logo design (School competition) was hand-picked by his school board in May 2025 to print on School wares (School T-shirt, etc). Katia is an open-minded teacher and also a good artist herself. My son wants to keep learning from her in Ace Art Studio.
Going to Katia not only got me accepted into Animation but also helped me improve a lot as an artist. Each class has students working individually whether it be portfolios, paintings, drawing, or even clay. Katia is able to help each and every student no matter their goals or experience. She is very knowledgeable about the portfolio requirements and greatly contributed to my success of getting in! The studio also offers life drawings on Monday which is really helpful too. Highly recommend, I only wish I attended here sooner! Thank you Katia :)
Quite frankly I don't think I would have gotten in Sheridan's Animation program without Katia's help. I feel like my chances of getting in skyrocketed about 80%, the remaining percentage being based on luck and the portfolio reviewers' mood. She makes it clear that her critiques and advice have no disrespect behind them, they are all fair and equal and you don't need to worry about putting in your thoughts on what you should be drawn, edited or left alone. With the addition of a friendly work-environment id recommend this to anyone looking to get into any animation school (especially for students who primarily/exclusively draw anime [aka, me] )
After attending Ace Art Studio for over four years, I think I can safely say that it’s the place to go to sharpen your skills in the visual arts. Animation, illustration or classical art, be it a passion or hobby, you’ll receive individual and specialized teaching. Or if you are like me back in grade 8, wanting to pursue a career in the visual arts but not quite sure where exactly, you can do a little bit of a variety of projects, bettering yourself as an artist and finding your place as one. Of course, the amount of time it takes to get there depends on you, and that is part of what made this class so special to me. Though students of many ages attended alongside me, I was given the attention I needed without unnecessary pressure. Once I decided I wanted to pursue a career in Animation, we switched gears. The assignments changed, and the style of teaching changed, although it was still one-on-one. Over many months I was taught what it would take and given the resources I needed to compete against 1000+ applicants to Sheridan’s Animation Program. One such vital resource was the weekly life drawing sessions in the ACE Studio space. With all this I can confidently say I am well on my way to a career in the Animation industry. Although I still have a long way to go, I would not be where I am today had I not begun my journey at ACE Art Studio four or so years ago.
My experience at ACE art studio has been nothing but wonderful! Thanks to Katya's help and guidance, I was able to get into Sheridan animation program as well as the Seneca animation program with a 97% score on my portfolio! Katya is everything you want in an art teacher: an amazing, talented and dedicated teacher who has a very individual style to each of her students. She goes above and beyond to provide non profit life drawing sessions for our convenience and she brings in expert animators from the field to have a better expertise. I have been at ACE for about 3 years and my art skills and my confidence in my art skills has improved dramatically. I definitely would recommend to anyone interested in art!
My son was accepted to Sheridan's Bachelor of Animation! He has been going to ACE Art Studio for approximately 5 years. His art teacher gave him the tools and skills he needed to recognize his potential in visual arts and animation. His teacher went above and beyond by providing the classroom for non profit life drawing sessions and bringing industry professionals to give advice to the students.
