We visited this restaurant as a group of three on a weekday, so it wasn’t busy at all. The food was decent — nothing exceptional, but enjoyable enough. Unfortunately, the service really spoiled the experience. It was our friend’s birthday, and we were hoping to sit and enjoy the evening a bit longer since the place was quiet. However, our waiter seemed to be in a hurry the entire time — rushing us to order, pushing dessert even when we weren’t ready, and even bring container without ask, starting to collect desserts before we had finished. When it came time to pay, he decided how to split! Overall, the service felt very rushed and unfriendly, which was disappointing given it was a special occasion and the restaurant wasn’t busy. With a little more patience and attention to the guest experience, this could have been a much nicer evening.
The spot is not fancy, old fashioned. Service is very nice and friendly. Grilled Calamari I honestly can’t recall having worse calamari. The texture was rubbery, and the flavor was completely absent — bland to the point of being inedible. We couldn’t finish it and left about three-quarters of the dish untouched. Rabbit al Forno on a Bed of Linguini The portion was generous, but the rabbit was not as tender as it should have been, and it leaned toward dry. Disappointing, especially for a slow-cooked dish that should shine with moisture and flavor. Veal Chop with Chef Salad The veal was cooked medium-rare, as ordered, and was actually quite good – the only good part of the meal. That said, the overall experience wasn’t enjoyable. With only one dish hitting the mark and the others falling flat, I cannot recommend the place.
We use to go frequently to Gusto, went few days ago and noticed the food quality has changed not as authentic as it was before and pasta prices have increased a lot.
The 5 of us just had a wonderful lunch at Gran Gusto Ristorante. My good friends and I really enjoyed our meals. The food was exceptional!! Very authentic and flavourful. They have a wood fire oven for pizzas. We ordered the fresh rosemary bread and pesto chicken with red peppers pizza for starters, both very delicious! For mains, we ordered the veal special made with a brandy sauce, potato pizza, smoked salmon pasta, and lamb chops. Desserts were all fantastic. The tiramisu was out of this world!! Very fresh. The chef prepared every meal with exquisite ingredients. Owner Ricardo is very friendly and welcoming. This establishment in Woodbridge has been around for over 20 years and is worth paying a visit if you'd like to have a true Italian meal.
Calamari was delicious could eat the whole regular plate myself. Found out my 2 year old loves it too. The atmosphere was calming, homey, servers were attentive but left you alone to enjoy your meal, which was nice. The Margherita pizza was not what I'm used to, didn't have the slices of mozzarella or enough fresh basil, looked like a regular cheese pizza, but was pleasantly surprised that they had a wood-oven!
This place was a spontaneous find, and a delightful experience. They accommodated a last minute dinner reservation, the service was genial and attentive. The food was excellent. Will definitely return
When you first look at the menu you realise this is an Italian menu, but the description is in English, the servers are very nice and happy and knoledgeable of the menu, as for the place itself I believe it is an old building in Lindsay the restoration have been done, only windows in the front when you come in, the colors they have chosen are very soothing for the restaurant ambience, they have a good selection of wine , beer etc... The presentation of the plates is very nice, the bruschetta looked really good, the cheese pizza looked good, someone had a soup he said it was excellent, some others had the seafood plater with pasta, it was good, whoever had the chicken parmesan all said it was a bit bland, overall the experience was good, it was a party of 20 for a bd dinner. Casual.
