The product was good, but I wish I ordered from another place, since all flooring companies have pretty much the same products and prices. The problem is their customer service and how they deal with issues. In my case, during delivery to the construction site, the delivery truck ran over the skid with limestone and had it broken. It caused a delay with the construction and I had to pay to replace a stone. I was naive and thought since it happened during delivery, then the company would pay for it, like any other normal company would do. But no. First, they just refused to pay, shifting responsibility to me and saying it’s my fault that everything wasn’t completely prepared for the delivery. After I pointed out that it is a driver’s job and responsibility to make sure the unloading process is safe and properly done, and if the driver didn’t see a skid with stone (on the side of the driveway, leaving more than enough space to drive by!) it is definitely his mistake, the business stopped responding to my emails. I had to file a formal complaint to the Better Business Bureau, but even after that they refused to pay the whole amount and offered me a small percentage, again trying to shift responsibility to me. The complaint has been opened with BBB for a few months already, and the business just ignoring my requests to pay the whole amount. I would suggest staying away from this company and order somewhere else, where staff can admit and deal with their own mistakes, and where the customer’s satisfaction is a priority.
Choosing the materials was helpful, much thanks to Timea. Project management was unsatisfactory. When we decided to omit some materials/finishes to reduce costs, Lehel just increased the prices of others! This owner was also a pretty high-stress person, complaining a lot about being behind at other sites. That was not our problem, but it did become that... Demolition was sloppy; multiple and deep holes showed up in the walls - how does this happen with an empty apartment The baseboards weren't even scored first before they were ripped off the wall, leaving significant tears in paint and drywall. No repairs or discounts were ever offered for all that unnecessary damage. From the very start the crew was a day and a half behind due to problems at other sites, and we were afraid our building's elevator booking schedule would be disrupted because of this company's poor planning - so we helped the crew load/unload each day and got them back on schedule! The installation was very good, but not excellent. The crew missed coloured caulking in several visible areas; they also made cuts around one closet organizer that were off, leaving its frame misaligned after it was dropped back in. Alliance Flooring is not a bad company - the selection they offer and their installation crew are as good as you could hope for, but it was the demolition crew and Lehel's customer service skills and business practices that were subpar. This may have been a good company at one point, but the pandemic and the financial winfall it has become for contractors has made some companies like Alliance lose sight of what made them good before, and too focused on making money. In the end, we can not recommend Alliance Floor Source.
