This will be long. I had surgery after herniating my disc. I was left with residual numbness to my saddle, left foot drop, and developed chronic pain. I went through all possible treatments. RFA, epidural injections, weekly injections, opioids, neuropathic agents, on top of physio, chiro, and massage. I did not progress. All these well intentioned places kept themselves too busy to address me as a whole person. Things were getting worse. Upon recommendation, I booked an appointment with Dr. Assimakopoulos. The universe gave me what I needed, FINALLY! I was recommended to the IDP program after meeting Dr.Mailis. I want to praise such an amazing group of practitioners. Dr.Mailis, Dr.Assimakopoulos, Dr.Spivak, Dr.Dhaghelian, Rhoda Gyang-Gyang RMT, and Louisa Mailis. The comprehensive care I have received is second to none. Each practitioner has provided safety and space to allow me to progress and challenge myself in the most supportive environment I have ever been in. They provide a very tailored care plan and listen when things need adjusting. I could go on and on, but let me summarize: they have the magic recipe. If you are suffering... crawl, hobble, limp, or whatever gets you through those doors.... just go.
Over the years, I have had many great experiences at The Pain and Wellness Centre. The staff are all professional and talented in their respective fields. My latest experience was with Tiffany Tiu who helped me with knee pain. She did a great job. I feel confident in recommending The Pain and Wellness Centre to anyone who needs a physiotherapist or chiropractor.
I am SO pleased to have worked with the team at PWC! They gave me many tools that have helped me manage the pain of a double knee replacement that left residual pain. They’ve done so much more than that too - the emotional support and the empowerment they instilled has been immense - they believed that I had pain when many other professionals dismissed me because I had full range of motion when the joints weren’t under load! I now have the tools and outlook to get on with my life despite residual pain.
To those of you are dealing with pain and getting no answers or relief, you should contact the Pain and Wellness Centre. I'm 74 years old and have always been in good physical condition. I've worked out all my life and enjoyed being active. For the past two years I've suffered with progressively worsening pain and limited activity. The pain in my lower back, buttocks, and foot was challenging. Sleeping through the night was impossible. My doctor recommended Dr. Angela Mailis. After a thorough discussion of my symptoms, review of any previous tests and past procedures, I began working with Dr. Demetry Assimakopoulos, Chiropractor. My objective was to increase my muscle strength and flexibility in order to get control of my pain. The ultimate objective at the time was to prepare me for a vacation whereby I'd be doing a lot of walking. We succeeded in getting me to where I felt confident of being able to enjoy my vacation. Unfortunately, while away I fractured my ankle on the opposite side. I was bedridden for many weeks upon my return, even though my ankle was healing well, my back and other side was worsening. Dr. Mailis followed up with me upon my return and when I informed her of what was happening, she ordered an MRI. The results showed I needed surgery right away. Since my surgery, my chronic pain has dissipated allowing me to sleep and be active again. I'm actually anticipating being able to play golf again next year! I am forever grateful for Dr. Mailis and PWC. If she had not been the detailed and insightful doctor she is, then who knows how much further damage I would have incurred without getting to my surgeon. The entire PWC team are truly caring and capable professionals.
Finally a place that understands pain from my perspective. Multi practitioners have been working with me, each with their own specialty with one goal, to guide and educate me to a healthier life. Thank you everyone
